A Story Of How I Helped Someone
Hey guys! I think you all know what this post is about. Me helping someone. Sorry, I sat here forever trying to think up a clever title. None came to me. So I just decided to be blunt. Anyhow, do any of you remember my post Looking For Angels about the Skillet song? Even if you didn't read it you still probably know that I've always wanted to be an "angel" for somebody. My life is about being a reflection of Christ and bringing hope to people who have none. Well...today I got to do just that.
Well you see, my little ministry (it's actually just something I do.) on Tumblr is to send random people encouraging messages. Sometimes when I doubt that my simple messages help people, I look through my ask box and see all the responses I get from people saying how my message made their day. It really brings a smile to my face, and often times, tears to my eyes.
So while back I randomly messaged this girl and I'm not sure exactly what I told her but I reminded her that God was in control and He was with her and things like that. She responded by telling me that her dad was in the hospital and could die. I told her that I would be praying for her.
Then some time later I got a message from her on Twitter saying how when I messaged her it really made a big difference and that she was so thankful for me and things like that. It really made me so happy!
I hadn't talked to her in a while but then today I got a message from her and I started tearing up when I read it. It said:
"Hi. I just wanted to give you an update on my dad since you've helped me a lot, he got a liver transplant after being in the hospital for 18 days. They called him a miracle because he should have died way before he went to get his new liver. His new liver worked really good with his body which all the nurses were shocked at. Because of your post on Tumblr I never lost faith. Everyone in my family thought he was going to die but I told them not to worry because God is good. They didn't believe in God at one point I said 'God never left you, why should you leave Him? Think positive, pray, talk to God.' That's all I kept telling them. They said I'm 15 and I don't know anything. He survived and now all those people are saying I was right. He's still in the hospital and is recovering day by day and I'm so thankful for it. If it wasn't for you I would have lost my faith too. So thank you. You have a big part in my story."
I couldn't believe what I had just read. Here this girl was telling me that because I sent her a message on Tumblr and prayed for her that I now had a big part in her story. Like, WHAT?!?! That's what I want to do with my life. To bring God glory and bring people to Him! To show people that YES! God is real and He loves you and He is with you! So later she messaged me and said:
"I just can't thank you enough. It's like God sent you. Like you were my angel. I never had much faith until everything that happened. I didn't believe in much but because of one post on Tumblr it changed my world. I'm really thankful, I can't thank you enough. God bless you and your family!"
God used me.
God.really.used.ME! Of all people. This is the kind of stuff that happens when you say "God, here I am. Use me." He will. You may not think you're doing much but God is watching you and you really have a bigger impact on people than you realize. Never underestimate the little things. And never ever underestimate the things God can accomplish through you.
"It's like God sent you. Like you were my angel." This...this really hit me. Because that's all I've ever wanted. Because out there in this world there are people looking for angels. You might be the only glimpse of an angel someones ever going to see, you know that? You. You matter. It doesn't take much. It doesn't even take a lot of effort. But you gotta be willing. You just gotta say "Lord, use me!" He will. I know He will.
I really hope this story encourages you to go out and make a difference. I challenge you to do something that could make someones world a little better. Sit next to that one lonely kid in school, help someone carry groceries, message a random person or a not so random person, smile at someone, you can do SO much! If you do something this week or have done something to make someone smile, I want to hear about it! Comment below! Talk to me people! Thanks for reading.
Have a great week:)
