Make-Up And Class

Today I want to talk to you about not a really heavy topic, but something I feel like I need to address because a lot of people tend to ask me about this.
Well, ever since I got into the Jr. High/High School age a lot of my friends have started to wear make-up. Nothing is generally wrong with that, I think they look nice when they put on a little bit, but many of girls overdue it.

   A LOT.

See, my Mom always taught me that make-up is supposed to be used to enhance natural beauty. You're already beautiful, you don't need make-up, (totally broke into singing One Direction just now. Awkward. Moving on...) you're already beautiful! A lot of people ask me why I don't wear make-up, well, I do. On special occasions. I mean, some holidays and random times I just feel like dressing up. But that's all. I actually like how I look with it on, but a problem I've been noticing with my friends is that they'll put some on one day and then a little the next and then they can't go out without wearing some because they feel like something is missing. Now they just do it out of habit. I hate that. I don't want to wear make-up all the time just because that's what I'm used to doing in the morning. Then you also get so used to how you look with it on then you get used to seeing yourself with it on and then you begin to not like how you look without it. You reject your natural self.

Why do girls even wear make-up? Because society has convinced them that your ugly without it. They feed you lies. They tell you stupid things like "you'll never get a boyfriend if you don't wear it." "You aren't pretty without it." Yeah well they are liars. You're beautiful. Don't cover yourself with colorful power. You don't need it.

Another random thing I wanted to talk about it the word classy. I really like that word. haha. When I hear that word I think of fancy girls from the old  days who wear nice dresses and leather gloves and drink tea. In this generation we've replaced class with swag. No one wants to be known as being proper and elegant, everything wants to be cool and 'gangster.' Ok, don't misunderstand me, I have nothing against the way people dress like that (except for the pants below the waist...just...no.) As long as its appropriate, we're good. I actually like flat brimmed caps and T-Shirts. But do you like it? Or are you just doing it because everyone else is?

Back to 'class.' See, I think people should want more class in their life. Be simple. Maybe instead of sitting on the computer all day, read a book, write a poem, read Shakespeare, wear a skirt and run in the grass without shoes, drink some tea, wear clothes people don't wear in this generation. Just...be different! Strive to be known for your kindness and love, not "swag."

Sorry if that made no sense at all, because that's very likely. It makes sense in my head and that's all that really matters. Just kidding. But yeah.

God is good! May The Force Be With You!

  1. Amen to that! I agree; makeup shouldn't be required or pressured upon anybody. I was actually thinking about this the other day-- if you don't look like the same person when you take your makeup off, maybe you're putting on too much. I wear it occasionally, and I like a little bit of eyeliner and eyeshadow, but I don't put enough on to make it really show up. I have kind of thin eyelashes, so I like to wear mascara.
Thanks for your post, and I really wish you and I could meet! :D
