True Friendship

Hello again! So all week I've been trying to think of a new idea for a blog when suddenly one came to me as I was watching The Lord Of The Rings with my mom and two friends. My mom has determined that the two best friends in the whole world are Sam (from Lord Of The Rings.) and Wilson (from House.) As we watched the Return Of The King we discussed the friendship between both Sam and Frodo and Wilson and Dr. House. I stated that both Sam and Wilson had friends that were mean or something. House and Frodo aren't the kind of friends they should be, especially with the guys they consider their best friend.
Sam and Wilson both set good examples of how friends should be towards each other. But one thing really stuck out to me: they're kindness wasn't determined by how their friend treated them. Frodo was arrogant and mean, yet Sam turned back with love and compassion.
Just because someone's being mean to you doesn't mean you need to do the same. I hear all the time about how friendships are falling, and I think part of it is that they expect the other person to be nicer or better, instead of focusing on themselves. People are to self centered. The world tries to tell us that we need to do whatever we can to make ourselves happy. Well the world is wrong...as usual. We need to be a little more selfless. Stop focusing on what you want. I'm not saying it's easy. I have my own times where I only think of myself. But try. Try to think a little less of yourself and a little more of someone else. Sam and Wilson did, and look, they're considered the bestest friends in the world.

  2. So true Faith, Sam is a true friend standing by Frodo through it all. Frodo didn't realize this till he was rescued from the Orgs.
True friends are rare, however we do have a true friend in our Father, who watches over us all the time, because we aren't perfect.
